Washington didn't disappoint us...it rained. In spite of the rain everyone had a great and fun time.
Thursday, 6-28-07, Judy and I met with Marty and Carmen at their house and then enjoyed a leisurely ride north to Woodland, Washington. We received a few little sprinkles on our windshields, just to let us know that it could rain if it really wanted to, but not enough to get us wet.
Upon arrival Judy and I checked into the Best Western and Marty and Carmen were just a few doors down at the Cedar Inn.
After check-in we enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner and then rode over and checked-in at the Rally. We did some visiting with old friends and then were off to our rooms for the night and I installed a new headset in Judy's helmet.
Friday morning after breakfast we went back to the High School for opening ceremonies and to visit the vendors. Just as opening ceremonies were ending the wind started to blow and a light shower visited us (I think it was a part of the Washington welcome).
Throughout the day more and more people arrived and we did lots of visiting. After Ken, Betty, Johnny and Lou, Scott and Cindy (with their beautiful daughter and bride to be along with her friend) and Randi arrived we decided to go for an early Mexican dinner. We no sooner got out of the motel driveway than lightening, thunder and a downpour greeted us. Each drop was equivalent to a small glass of water; well it seemed that way. Anyway, we were thoroughly wet after riding the one-mile to the restaurant. After enjoying a great dinner we all went back to our rooms to dry out.
Saturday morning greeted us with blue skies and sunshine, Yea! We met for breakfast and then over to the School for all kinds of different games and events. The Drill Team put on an excellent performance at a different location and I think many people missed out because they didn't know where it was. After the drill team, riders were polishing their bikes for the show and shine so Judy and I took a ride to Cougar, Washington for lunch. Along the way we visited several parks and three fish hatcheries.
On the way back from lunch we noticed the SRC course was in progress so we stopped to see if we could help. They had plenty of help so we just visited for awhile and then back to the Rally for the B-B-Q dinner.
Later that evening we all lined up for the police escorted light parade through town and lots of people turned out to wave at us.
The next morning we left early because we had to get home and pick Jim up at the kennel. Ken led the way and we decided to ride at least through Portland before we stopped for breakfast. When we stopped in Woodburn I asked Betty to look at my neck and see if anything was wrong. She examined me closely and said she couldn't find anything other than a small bite. I asked her to look again and see if there wasn't any blood, which she did and again said she couldn't find anything wrong. I told her that that was great because my stomach thought my throat was cut (I was hungry).
Farther down the road, at a rest stop, we met with Clarence and Vickie and then at the gas station in Rice Hill we met with Steve Andrus, the new Region B Director. Steve had to get home for work the next day. (Work is for those who don't ride).
We had a great time with some fantastic friends as always. Now we have to get ready for Sioux Falls, SD.
Hope everyone had as much fun as we did, Don and Judy
