WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT
On Saturday, 12 Jan. 08, we had a Chapter business meeting/Potluck at Scott and Sharon Starke’s home, in Merlin, to which there was a fantastic turnout with some even better food. The accommodations in the new addition were perfect for our winter gatherings. I believe I heard a count of 22 people in attendance, which is a good showing. Donna May’s Mom, Jay Dee, joined the club, I believe it was the food that convinced her, and said that she is an available Co-Rider who likes to go fast......any takers?
I was able to sell 30 National Rally raffle tickets and I believe everyone had a great time. Kin said that I was disrupting the meeting but we do have priorities. Hey, it’s all in good fun.
Our new CD, Ken, did a great job maintaining some sort of order (a tough job with this crowd especially when I’m in attendance). I believe some business was accomplished and new officers were selected, or I should say reinstated, except for our new Ass’t . CD who are Steve & Charlene Riggs. Steve and Charlene are past CD’s so they are aware of what the duties involve. Thank you Steve and Charlene for having a short memory and stepping, once again, into the line of fire.
At the end of the meeting I believe it was Marty who suggested a ride for Sunday. A group of us decided to go for it but did so without a firm destination. When we arrived in Cave Junction Bud said that he had not fed Gariann but that she could make it as far as Crescent City so we were off. The sun did come out and we actually had a great ride. The Chartroom was closed so Charlene pointed to the Grotto and we all decided to try it. What a treat, I think everyone was pleased with the setting, the food and the service. I can attest that the Fish and Chips were outstanding and Marty claimed the Calamari was excellent..
When we were ready to mount up and leave Bud suggested that Judy and I take his Euro-trike and he and Gariann would ride our trike. Well, hand a kid some candy, I wasn’t going to pass up that offer. The ride was soft, it took the corners easy and I love the acceleration without shifting down. I attempted to convince Bud that my Gold Trike would look much better in his garage and that we should just swap but he wasn’t going for that. Anyway, thanks Bud and Gariann, it was a great ride. As always, the trip ended at the DQ in Cave Junction. Who would have thought we would have such a great ride in the middle of January?
Ride Safe, Don
