Judy and I returned from Sioux Falls and Gold Rush XX. It was a great ride and we really enjoyed meeting with old friends.
The SRC course had a great turn out and also was fun. We had a great bunch of participants, including Carmen, and hope that some left the class a little more confidant in their riding skills thanks to Paul and Pat Carroll.
Judy and I rode 700 plus miles on our first day of the return trip and some people think that was a bit far. Here are our secrets for long rides; Stop every 100/150 miles for gas, water, coffee and potty breaks. Please always get off the bike/trike/sidecar before fueling and touch the gas pump to ground any static electricity from your body. While I pump gas Judy gets out a rag and cleaning solution and washes the windshield. Those breaks need only take 5 or 10 minutes and you're back on the road. Those short breaks make a big difference and stretching helps keep you alert and prevent saddle sores.
Water breaks, to keep hydrated, are very important. The wind and sun can zap the moisture right out of your body. When riding in high altitudes your body works harder to absorb oxygen and also requires more water.
Staying alert is of prime importance. If you or your passenger notice something of interest, pull over and take a minute to appreciate the view.
Hope everyone is enjoying each every ride as much as we are
