INTRODUCTION

By Don Coons

OREGON STATE SAFETY DIRECTOR

Let me start out by introducing myself. I started riding motorcycles when I was 16 years old in Redondo Beach, California and I just applied for my Social Security (too many years to count).

I retired June 1993 with 31 years Federal Service (including 9 years Navy time). I worked as a Boiler Operator, Refrigeration Mechanic, Boiler Plant Foreman, and retired from Concord Naval Weapons Station, Concord, California as Utilities Manager.

After retirement I started my own little Handyman Business (The House Husband) until Judy retired two years ago.

My interests are Motorcycle riding/touring, Amateur radio, Fishing, Camping, Cruises (love the food), stopping at DQ (love the ice crčam) and growing old with my wife and friends (love to party).

As you can see I have no professional Motorcycle riding skills and don't claim to know any more than the next guy. I will provide Safety Reminders and pass on all safety related information that I receive from GWTA National and any other source I come across.

I want to thank Scott Peabody, GWTA Oregon State Director for his confidence in my capability to serve in this position. I'll do the best that I can to keep you advised of any and all Safety related information as I become aware of it. I can be reached at statesafetydirector@gwta-oregon.org and welcome all input and comments.

     In Friendship, Don Coons
